"Visit Maldives" to be displayed on La Liga club Celta Vigo's kit

Spanish top-flight football club Celta De Vigo has held discussions on displaying the "Visit Maldives" logo, according to Tourism Minister Ali Waheed.

At a conference held in Crossroads Maldives to commemorate World Tourism Day, Minister Waheed stated that the government has even received a proposal regarding these discussions held with the La Liga club.

The Minister stated that the logo will be displayed on Celta Vigo's official kits, practice kits, stadium, and even the club's transport bus. The Minister stated that this would ensure that the Maldives is seen when footballing world powers such as Barcelona and Real Madrid visit.

World Tourism Day was celebrated in the Maldives this year in a manner that resembled a national holiday or an eid. Countless activities were carried out in different locations across the country. These activities included a "Kids Football Fiesta" for kids.

Two children most noticed from the fiesta were even provided with the opportunity to train with Celta's academy in Spain. One of the children was also provided with the opportunity to train at the academy of former Spanish National Team defender Michel Salgado in Dubai.

The Minister also stated that the Tourism Day of 2019 was very successful and saw the country receive a large number of visitors from countries such as China and Singapore.
