UK journalists in Maldives to promote tourism

A team of UK journalists have arrived in Maldives at the invitation of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to promote sustainable tourism of Maldives, local experiences and feature Maldivian products in the UK.

According to MMPRC, the team of UK journalists is the 14th group to arrive in Maldives as part of a series of familiarization trips organized by MMPRC.

The journalists are scheduled to stay in Maldives until October 7, during which time they will visit local islands and resorts, and experience sustainable tourism initiatives run at the resorts, as well as Maldivian culture, cuisine, and the natural beauty of the country.

They will be primarily hosted at Coco Bodu Hithi, Furaveri Island Resort & Spa and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

According to MMPRC, the journalists are from publications such as Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, Stoke Park, House of Coco, The Travel Magazine and Harbor Chelsea Club. Their experiences in Maldives will be featured in articles and photographs in their respective publications.

Records place UK amongst the top 10 source markets for Maldives. It currently reigns as the fifth biggest source and boasts 7.3 percent of the total market share.

83,089 UK tourists are recorded to have visited Maldives from January to August of this year – a 10.5 percent boost compared to the same period of 2018.

MMPRC reports it hopes to reach a wider audience in markets through its series of FAM trips to promote Maldives as a tourist destination.
