The Gender Ministry statistics for August have shown that the number of cases it received in the month fell by 21 percent.
The statistics showed the Ministry received 168 cases in August. Out of that number 101 cases involved children.
40 cases of sexual abuse of children were reported in August. 23 cases of physical abuse and a further 23 cases of psychological abuse were reported to Gender in August. Harassment and cases of bullying numbered at three while two cases of bullying through the internet were also reported. Two cases of being subjected to scenes of domestic violence were also reported.
Two cases of deprivation of rights involving ID Cards, Passports and Birth certificates were investigated by the Ministry last month. Custodial cases numbered at six while cases of unpaid expenses numbered at three.
Cases with children involved in crime numbered at three with a further four behavioral cases involving children were also reported. These included three cases of running away from home and one case of refusal to attend school.
25 cases of abuse directed towards a specific gender were reported to the Ministry with eight cases of psychological abuse and eight cases of physical abuse noted as the highest types of abuse received regarding a specific gender.
Three cases of intimidation and undue influence, two cases of rape and two cases involving threats were also reported to the Ministry.
The Ministry statistics also showed ten cases involving neglected elderly people were reported in August. A further nine cases of self-harm was reported to the Gender Ministry in August.
