Friday fire incident triggers debate in Parliament

A special emergency debate has been initiated in today's parliamentary session regarding the fire that occurred in Henveiru of Male' city on Friday night.

The debate was triggered by Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir, who stated that Friday night's incident was unacceptable. The fire wreaked havoc in a densely populated neighborhood of Henveiru and saw the death of one person with devastating damage caused to several households.

Authorities had to battle with the fire for nearly four hours to control and extinguish it. MP Jabir called for quick action by the government regarding the safety of the people's property. 

The emergency issue was accepted by 50 members of the parliament for debate.
