Former President Abdulla Yameen has accused that the current administration's projects are being carried out with corruption.

Visiting the islands of Meemu Atoll on a campaign tour, Former President Yameen stated that the current administration was misleading the people by showing that it was running projects in a less expensive manner.

Speaking to supporters in M. Naalaafushi President Yameen stated that projects were estimated at MVR 17,000-15,000 in the current administration budget and that this was not a feasible amount for such projects. He also accused that this was a ploy to show that the former administration was operating on bribes and corruption.

The former President then focused on the fact that a budget and a supplementary budget has been passed for the current administration. He criticised that the government was powerless and incapable of achieving things even with all the power it has. He also questioned how people could believe the government's target of running projects by the end of the year.

"The budget of 1.7 billion will see around 67 percent of it go to different commissions and the salary of appointed political posts, not to the development of the country. This is an administration that gives wages to people of its ideology. This is not an administration focused on running development projects for the people." said the former President.

He also stated that his party MPs had voted for the budget of the administration while MDP MPs never voted for a budget during his administration.

President Yameen also advised citizens to think before electing candidates and whether they were capable of doing. He also stated that while there were no others, his Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) would remain steadfast in holding the current administration responsible and accountable.
