Min. Shahid: Trip to China will reinforce ties

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has stated that ties between Maldives and China will be strengthened and foundations will be laid in different sectors on the minister's trip to China.

Minister Shahid will visit China on September 19, after accepting an invitation from the Foreign Minister of China and State Councillor Wang Yi. 

The Minister stated in an interview with "Sun" regarding his trip to China that he will also meet with the Vice President of China Wang Qishan. Talks regarding strengthening relations between the two countries will be held during this trip.

The Minister also noted that China as a country that the Maldives had close relations with noted the assistance by China that the Maldives receives in many areas. The Minister also stated that the Maldives should try and benefit from the skills and technological advancements and the fact that China is the biggest economy in the world.

"Ties between the two countries will grow even better and the Maldives will hopefully receive even more assistance by China after this trip," said Minister Shahid.
