The Finance Ministry has announced that it is searching for a party to collect and dispose of the waste that had not been attended to in islands.

Finance Ministry's announcement states that only Maldivian companies can submit applications for the project and that the applications for the bidding process are now open. The Ministry also stated that a non-refundable registration fee of MVR 500 will be taken and a bid security payment of MVR 500,000 will also be taken for the project. Further information can be collected by contacting the Ministry through email or phone.

Waste disposal work in islands is mostly carried out by parties that the council assigns. WAMCO also operates in some areas of islands while most islands carry out the work by hiring foreigners.
