Customs seizes 109 ‘anti-Islamic’ books from fair

Maldives Customs Service has seized a large quantity of books which promote anti-Islamic philosophies put up for sale at a book fair in Male’ City.

Customs, in a press statement this Saturday, confirmed it seized 109 books from a book fair in the capital on Friday.

The agency reports it seized the books because it contained anti-Islamic statements.

Customs had intervened after pictures of the books, kept for sale at the Novelty Book Fair in Dharubaaruge, were shared by members of the general public over social media platforms.

The books had included literature on Hinduism and atheism.
