Records show increase in reluctance to attend school

The Gender Ministry has seen an increase in the number of cases submitted where kids refused to attend school last July.

19 cases related to kids' behavior were submitted in July to the Gender Ministry out of which nine cases involved a minor who refused to attend school.

The Ministry had received just five cases in June and stated that the number of cases where children got harassed and bullied also increased in July. A total of eight cases of bullying were reported in July while five such cases were reported in June. Three cases of fleeing from home were also reported in addition to this.

A total of 214 cases were reported to the ministry in July and 105 of these cases were related to child abuse in some form, according to the ministry. The Gender Ministry saw a reduction of 11 percent in the number of reported cases while a 16 percent reduction of cases involving child abuse were also noticed.

34 cases involving sexual abuse were reported while 11 cases of psychological abuse were reported as well as one case of child trafficking was also reported. 59 cases involving girls and 46 cases involving boys were reported to the ministry.

Four cases of deprivation of rights were reported including two cases of deprivation of education, one case of failure to provide housing and one case of failure to register a child. Three cases of juvenile delinquency were reported. 

35 cases of domestic violence and gender-based based violence involving 13 cases of physical violence were reported to the Ministry.

Seven psychological abuse cases were reported with four rape cases also being reported. Nine cases of neglect of disabled and elderly people were reported while 12 cases of self-harm were also reported and attended by the Ministry.
