Minister Nahula: Mechanical parking systems have turned to rust

Transport Minister Aishath Nahula has stated that the mechanical parking systems installed by the previous administration have turned into rust.

Minister Nahula was answering the questions of MPs at today's parliamentary session when she stated that the mechanical parking systems installed by the previous administration of President Yameen had become a massive burden for the current administration.

"These systems do not benefit Maldivians in any way and have turned into rust. And now the government has to spend a lot to remove these parking systems," said the Minister.

The Minister also stated that the fact that difficulties to create parking areas in the city were faced since these parking systems were located there. Work was done to install parking systems in some locations in Hulhumale' as well as the Velaanaage area and Gaakoshi area in Male' city.

These systems are now being removed to turn these areas into parking lots.
