NCTC holds workshop on extremism and counter terrorism

National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) has launched a three-day training workshop on extremism and counter terrorism.

The workshop is being run by the NCTC in collaboration with the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and with assistance from the Japanese government.

The workshop was inaugurated this Monday at the Islamic Center conference room by Director General of NCTC, Brigadier Zakariyya Mansoor, who stressed on the need for innovative and proactive approaches in combating radicalization and extremism.

The workshop is underway with 62 participants from State agencies, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders. It includes participants from 18 State agencies and nine NGOs.

At the three-day workshop, the participants will be trained on identifying radicalized individuals and combatting radicalization and extremism.

This Monday’s session was led by Brigadier General Dr. Fahad Abdulaziz Al Ghafili from the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.

The latest training workshop by NCTC comes one month after the center’s two-day workshop on role of religious leaders in preventing and countering extremism in collaboration with Hedayah – a UAE based counter-terror organization.
