The Indian government has provided USD 1.07 million in grant assistance for the completion of additional facilities at the MNDF Composite Training Center located in the northern area headquarters in Lh. Maafilaafushi.
The USD 1.07 million cheque was presented to Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi by the Indian Ambassador to Maldives, Sunjay Sudhir in a function held at the Bandeyri Koshi this Wednesday.
According to MNDF, the grant assistance will help complete all pending phase I work of the training center.
The MNDF Composite Training Center itself is being developed with assistance from the Indian government.
Work on the center is being carried out in three phases. Phase I consists of an administrative block, three accommodation barracks, a firing shed, a firing range, a health post, an obstacle belt, two recreational buildings, and power, water and sanitation facilities.
The MNDF Composite Training Center, once its complete, will become the country’s main military training facility.
