Earthquake detected 588-km off the coast of Addu City

A 5.6 hector earthquake has been recorded 588-kilometers off the coast of Addu City.

Maldives Meteorology Service reports the earthquake was recorded at 2:05 pm this Tuesday, and is of no threat to Maldives.

The earthquake originated from the Carlsberg Ridge at the depth of 10 kilometers.

Reports have been coming in tremors were felt in several of the southern atolls.

However, Maldives Meteorology Service says no such reports have been received by the agency.
