Maldivian administration has announced it is seeking a consultancy firm for the planned project to construct international commercial harbors in Northern and Southern Maldives.

The announcement, posted by Ministry of Finance, says it is seeking a consultancy firm to carry out scoping, feasibility analysis, project planning, and transaction advisory for the project.

The invitation is now open for interested firms to submit request for proposal.

The announcement reads that the Maldivian administration encourages international firms to submit proposals in collaboration with local firms.

It said that the factor will be taken into consideration during the evaluation process.

Interested parties have the opportunities to register for proposal submission from June 23 to July 18. The deadline to submit proposals closes on July 21.

Maldives currently has three international harbors. They are:

  • Male' Commercial Harbor
  • Kulhudhuffushi Commercial Harbor
  • Addu Commercial Harbor

The Maldivian administration announced earlier this year that it planned on relocating the main shipping hub, Male’ Commercial Harbor to K. Thilafushi in a bid to reduce congestion and ease the flow of cargo.
