Commission seeks investigative reports on Raudha’s death

Commission on Investigation of Murders and Enforced Disappearances has reached out to Bangladeshi authorities to obtain all investigative reports pertaining to the death of Maldivian model and medical student Raudha Athif in Bangladesh in 2017.

Chair of Commission on Investigation of Murders and Enforced Disappearances, Attorney Husnu Al Suood confirms the commission is seeking all the investigative reports and autopsy reports of the case.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) confirmed receiving the request from the Maldivian Embassy in Bangladesh in an interview to Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star on Thursday, May 16.

“We asked our Rajshahi office to send the information urgently,” reported PBI’s chief, Deputy Inspector General of Police Banaj Kumar Majumder.

Meanwhile, Additional SP Abul Kalam Azad of Rajshahi PBI says that the agency has completed its investigation into Raudha’s death, ruling it as a suicide.

Five probes were conducted following the death of Raudha – who had featured in a Vogue magazine cover in 2016. Her body underwent autopsy twice, once after exhumation from the grave.
