Spanish hotel chain, RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened two luxury resorts in Dh. Atoll.
The two resorts, developed on neighboring islands Dh. Maafushi and Dh. Kedhigandu, are connected to each other via the walkway to the water bungalows.
The 264-room resort developed on Dh. Kedhigandu is called RIU Atoll and is a four-star resort; while the 174-room resort developed on Dh. Maafushi is called RIU Palace and is a five-star resort.
The two resorts lie approximately 2 kilometers away from Dh. Kudahuvadhoo.

Construction of the two resorts was carried out by China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) – the same company which constructed the Sinamale’ Bridge.
The inauguration of the two newest additions to RIU’s chain of hotels and resorts – held last Friday, May 17 - was attended by Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed; Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan; Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Aslam; the Chinese Ambassador Zhang Lizhong; and Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir.
