Condition of Maamingili Airport accident victims now stable

The three men who were medically evacuated to Male’ City following an accident which took place at the A. Dh. Maamingili Airport on Wednesday are in stable condition, reports ADK Hospital.

The accident took place at approximately 4:15 pm on Wednesday when a driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a joali where four men were seated.

One of the men had passed away while under treatment at the Maamingili Hospital, while the other three – who also sustained serious injuries - were transported to ADK Hospital in Male’ City at approximately 10:30 pm.

Managing Director of ADK Hospital, Ahmed Afaal reported to ‘Sun’ this Thursday that the three men remained hospitalized, but that their condition was stable.

Vice President of Maamingili Council, Shiham Mohamed reported that one of the men sustained a head injury while the other three sustained broken legs.

He identified the man who succumbed to his injuries as Ahmed Rasheed Abdul Shakoor, 30, from Binmaa in Maamingili – one of the men who had his legs broken in the accident.

860 roadside accidents have been reported to Maldives Police Service so far this year. The figure in April alone stands at 238 accidents.
