Avid College introduces Bachelor of Shariah and Law

Avid college has introduced Bachelor of Shariah and Law to its educational programs.

Bachelor of Shariah and Law was introduced in a special event held at Beehive Hotel last Monday.

State Minister of Education, Dr. Abdulla Rasheed was the guest of honor of the event. Chairman of Avid College, Abdulla Mushthaag also took part in the event.

The new course will start with the commencement of the new semester and will be taught under the college’s Faculty of Islam. Former Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Bagir is the Dean of the faculty.

Speaking in the event, Ziyad stated that the new Shariah and Law course of Avid College is a course approved by the Supreme Court of Maldives and the only course in Maldives that teaches Critical Thinking as a separate subject.

Shairah and Law course of Avid College is a three-year long course in Dhivehi medium. MVR 2,350 has to be paid as a monthly fee for the first year and MVR 2,500 as a monthly fee in the next two years.

Principle of Law, Critical Thinking, Research Methods, Arabic Language, Constitutional Law and Political Systems, Principles of Fiqh, Law of Tort and Maldivian Legal Systems are subjects in the first year of the course.

Subjects in the second year include Criminal Law, Company Law, Fiqh of Transactions, Islamic Family Law, Islamic Criminal Law, Trust and Equity Law, English for Law, Public International Law and Regulations of Fiqh.

Third year subjects are Legal Practice, Employment Law, Property Law, Administrative Law, Civil and Commercial Procedure, Law of Evidence, Islamic Inheritance Law, Criminal Procedure and Contemporary Fiqh.
