Last Sunday was one of the darkest days for Sri-Lanka in its recent history. Bombs were detonated in 8 areas of the country killing more than 290 people and injuring more than 500 people.

Three popular hotels of Lanka were hit during the Easter Sunday bombings.

One of these hotels was Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo. Shangri-La was hit as guests sat down for the morning breakfast buffet. Shan Jayasekar was one of the guests enjoying breakfast with his family when the bombing took place. Shan is a visiting lecturer of Villa College and hailed for his accounting skills in Lanka.

Shan was with his family enjoying breakfast when the blast took place and his wife shared the happy moment in Facebook with a picture captioned “Easter breakfast with family :)” at 8:17 am.

The explosion took place thirty minutes after the picture was posted. Shan lost his wife and mother-in-law - celebrity chef Shantha Mayaduney - to the blast and is currently fighting for his life in critical care.

The happy moment spent between Shan and his wife with his mother-in-law and two other family members is frozen in time with the picture his wife shared on her Facebook.

Villa College has conveyed sympathies on behalf of the management as well as the students to Shan on his loss and wishes him a speedy recovery.

Shangri-La Hotel has since been shut down for repairs.
