Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has issued a statement affirming support of the Maldivian people to the Sri Lanka as it grapples with multiple bombings which hit the country this Sunday morning.
At least 160 have been reported dead and hundreds injured in explosions in three churches and three hotels.
In a statement released over his Twitter account, Solih described the bombings as a “cowardly act of terror”.
He said that he was horrified by the bombings and conveyed his sympathies to everyone affected in the bombings.
“At this difficult time, I affirm our solidarity with the government and people of Sri Lanka and assure our support in the fight against terrorism,” wrote Solih.

Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem has also issued a statement expressing his shock and sadness at the terrorist attack.
“Deeply saddened by the multiple attacks on Srilanka this morning. Condemn this horrifying attack. condolences and prayers are with the people of Srilanka and the victims of this attack,” tweeted Faisal.
There are no reports on any injuries to any Maldivian who visiting or residing in Sri Lanka.
Maldivian Embassy in Sri Lanka has urged all Maldivian citizens in Sri Lanka to remain indoors and contact the embassy if in need of any assistance.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has also issued a statement condemning the terrorist attack.
