Polling begins in Filladhoo Council By-Election

Polling began this Saturday morning in the by-election held to fill two vacant seats at the H. A. Filladhoo Council.

Elections Commission (EC) reports polling stations have been opened in both Filladhoo and Male’ City for the by-election.

The by-election is being held following the resignation of two of the three members of the Filladhoo Council.

They are:

  • Mohamed Jaufar, Vice President
  • Mohamed Nafiu

President of Filladhoo Council, Mohamed Falah, in an earlier interview to ‘Sun’ said that Jaufar resigned to make time for his studies while Nafiu resigned for personal reasons.

The Filladhoo Council By-Election is being contested by four candidates; two candidates from Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and two candidates from Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
