Vice President Faisal Naseem has declared that Pakistan plays a huge role in the social and economic development of Maldives.
Speaking in the ceremony held in Iskandhar School last Saturday night to celebrate the 79th Pakistan Day, Vice President said that Maldives is ready to negotiate with Pakistan for regional and international development for both the countries.
He also said that both Maldives and Pakistan will work together to ensure the safety and development of South Asia and Indian Ocean region.
Faisal Naseem also said that talks and projects will be held for the benefit of the citizens of both the countries and improve the ongoing friendship between the two countries.
Faisal stressed that the reason for over 50 years of friendship between the two countries was the cultural and religious similarities between the two countries as well as the respect the countries have for each other.
The ceremony was also attended by State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel; State Minister for Defense, Mohamed Zuhair; State Minister for Health, Ifham Hussain; State Minister for Gender, Family and Social Services, Dr. Marium Jabyn and a number of officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Pakistan Day is a day celebrated to commemorate the Lahore Resolution passed on March 23, 1940 and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan during the transition of the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 23rd March 1956.
