First visitor of 2019: Struck speechless with happiness!

Khalid Kareem from Saudi Arabia, who flew into Maldives with his family via Oman Air this Tuesday morning, has become the first visitor to Maldives of the year 2019. And as per new year tradition, he received a warm welcome by Ministry of Tourism and Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

The celebrations to welcome the first tourism arrival of the year was attended by Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed and senior officials of MMPRC and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

Khalid is in Maldives to spend the new year holidays with his wife and son at the Bandos Island Resort.

In addition to being presented with special gift packs by Minister Ali Waheed and Managing Director of MMPRC, Thoyyib Mohamed; Khalid was also presented with complementary return tickets by Oman Air and a free 7-night holiday voucher by aaaVeee Nature’s Paradise.

When questioned by the press about his reaction to becoming the first visitor to Maldives of the year 2019, Khalid said he had no words to express his happiness.

“This is a very special day for us, personally. This is our 10-year anniversary. This is my second visit to Maldives. We chose Maldives because of our experience here back in 2014. I have travelled to many places across the world. But never anywhere as beautiful as Maldives,” said Khalid.

Resorts and guesthouses in Maldives are full for the new year holidays with occupancy reported upwards of 90 percent.

1.3 million tourists visited Maldives in 2018.
