President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has departed on a visit to Dhuvaafaru Island in Raa Atoll, to attend this year’s Unity Day function. As part of his visit to the island, the President will also meet members of the Dhuvaafaru Island Council and Un’goofaaru Island Council.
President Solih will then set to travel to Kudadhoo Island Resort this afternoon, and attend the official opening of the resort to be held this evening.
As the last part of this tour, the President is scheduled to visit Hen’badhoo Island in Shaviyani Atoll, where he will inaugurate the sewerage services in the island. The President is also set to meet with the island council.
Following damages in the 2004 tsunami, the people of the island of Kandholhudhoo in Raa Atoll were moved to Dhuvaafaru and developed as a safe island. The people were officially migrated to Dhuvaafaru in 2009.
