Leader of Jumhoory Party (JP) and Speaker of Parliament, Qasim Ibrahim has promised the government coalition will make a decision regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections which will not disappoint the people.
Speaking to press after the one-hour meeting among the leaders of the government coalition at the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) headquarters this Thursday morning, Qasim said the coalition will produce a formula which will not disappoint the public.
“We will, In Sha Allah, produce a formula which will not disappoint the people. Now don’t ask me if it’s a magic formula. But that will be the formula we produce,” said Qasim.
Leader of MDP, former President Mohamed Nasheed expressed confidence the coalition will reach a mutual agreement.
“It will be what the people want and choose and how the people can participate in this election. Its not merely up to us,” said Nasheed.
All four leaders of the coalition; Qasim, Nasheed, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Leader of Adhaalath Party (AP) and Minister of Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdulla promised a decision which will be the most beneficial to the people and the country.
This Thursday’s meeting ended without the leaders reaching a decision. Nasheed has announced an additional meeting will be held next Friday.
