The four leaders of the government coalition have convened to negotiate and make a decision on how the coalition will approach the Parliamentary Elections 2019.
The meeting began at 10:15 this Thursday morning at the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) headquarters.
The meeting is being led by former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, former Maldivian President and Leader of MDP Mohamed Nasheed, Leader of Jumhoory Party (JP) and Speaker of Parliament Qasim Ibrahim, and Leader of Adhaalath Party (AP) and Minister of Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdulla.
Chairperson of MDP Hassan Latheef and Ibrahim Shihab, leader of JP’s parliamentary group Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz, and Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon and Aneesa Ahmed from the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM) are also in attendance.
Nasheed started the negotiations by expressing the hope the leaders of the coalition will reach a decision regarding the parliamentary elections this Thursday.
