Ibu: True rulers of the state are the people

President Elect, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) has said that the true rulers of the state are the people of the country and would make it his top priority to keep the power in the hands of the people.  

The President Elect made the remarks in his statement on the occasion of the Maldivian Republic Day. He said that the Maldivian republic is was formed for the people, by the people. And in that system, the elected leaders serve the people and must be accountable to the people.  

And if things are going against that, it is the power of the people to speak against it and protest. The President Elect said that the elected leaders must be able to obey the will of the people.  

In his address, the President Elect said that in his opinion, the most important responsibility is to serve justice. And the success of that justice, whether it is good or bad, in the past ten years, will be decided by the people.
