Qasim to be made the Speaker of the Parliament

At a meeting held at the Jumhoory Party Office at Maafannu Kunooz, the Parliamentary Group of the Opposition Coalition has decided to appoint the MP for Maamigili constituency and the Leader of Jumhoory Party, Qasim Ibrahim, as the Speaker of the Parliament.  

Led by 51 oppostion MPs, a No Confidence case against the Speaker of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh, was broiught to the parliament floor today and a vote on the matter has been set on the agenda for 8 November. 

After the joint Parliamentary Group meeting, the President Elect, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that the meeting tonight focused on work of the Parliament and the apponting Qasim Ibrahim after the no confidence vote against the Spearker of the Parliament. 

Aside from being the MP for Maamigili constituency, Qasim Ibrhaim has served as the Speaker of the Parliament from 2004 to 2008.
