Opposition coalition has requested the Maldives Police Service to freeze the passport of the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom alleging that the President is attempting to flee the country.
Talking to the press after filing the case, the MDP Chairperson, Hassan Latheef, said that they have learned that President is trying to leave the country. And the case filed by the opposition was to stop the President from fleeing the country before the investigations have ended.
Hassan Latheef said that it is very important to prevent President Yameen from fleeing and complete the investigations as soon as possible.
The MDP Chairperson the main reason that the people elected the opposition candidate, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) was to bring President Yameen to justice.
Responding to the allegations made by the opposition coalition, the Vice President of PPM, Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey) said that the allegations that the President is trying to flee the country is completely false.
He said that President Yameen always work within the system for the country and the rights of the people and would always be in the service of the country and the Islamic faith.
