Former President Mohamed Nasheed has announced plans to return to the Maldives on November 1.
Nasheed, who currently resides in UK as a political refugee, made the announcement in a tweet this Wednesday.
‘Mithurunge hithah dhathi kuri kalhu konme reyyehves

Nasheed was serving a 13-year prison sentence when he obtained permission to travel to UK for medical treatment. He refused to return to Maldives after his treatment and the Maldivian government revoked his passport, declaring him a fugitive.
Opposition political parties and some international organizations have long alleged the trial against Nasheed was arbitrary.
