Automatic weather stations have been installed in every atoll of the country in an effort to gain accurate information on the weather and prepare ahead.
Talking to Sun Media about the nation wide project to install automatic weather stations, the Assistant Instrument Technical at the Meteorological Center, Moosa Saeed, said that weather stations have been installed on 24 islands. He said that all stations are now operational and sending data.
The project began last November from the free-aid from the Italian government.
Saeed said that the weather stations have created a meteorological network and provide data from across the country to forecasters. The data will be studied and weather forecast will provided.
