The government of Saudi Arabia has donated 50 tons of date fruits to the Maldives.
At a ceremony held at the Saudi Embassy in the Maldives today, the donation was accepted by the Islamic Minister, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad.
Saudi made a similar donation of 50 tons of dates last year. The Islamic Ministry did not comment as to why the donation came late this year.
The distribution procedure for the donation will be announced by the Ministry within the week.
