New medical college to begin classes in September

The first medical college in the Maldives is set to begin classes this September. 

Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Maldives National University (MNU), Aishath Shaheen told Sun Media that they are preparing to start classes in September and the equipment and books for the medical college has now been brought in. She said that most of the upgrades to the laboratory is now completed. 

The medical college was initially set to begin this month before it was delayed since Dharumavantha Hospital is not yet complete where MBBS students will be have classes. Two floors of the hospital is set to be dedicated for teaching. 

MNU has opened 50 slots for medical students and the Department of Higher Education has helped with loan opportunities for 33 medical students.
