A twister hit A. A. Bodufulhadhoo on Tuesday night, damaging some of the houses on the island.
Director at Bodufulhadhoo Council, Ahmed Umar reported to “Sun” that the twister hit the island at approximately 10:20 pm.
Umar reported that the twister swept away the roof of one house, damaged the roof of the kitchen and bedroom of another house, and swept away the roof of the chimney in another house. He also said the twister uprooted trees in two houses.
Umar said the twister caused varying degrees of damage to six houses on the island.
Bodufulhadhoo Council said no one was harmed in the incident. And that the damage to property have been reported to the National Disaster Management Center.
A large part of Maldives has been affected by torrential rain this week. Meteorological Center has issued white alert to northern and central atolls this Wednesday.
