Hassan Afeef, the Minister of Home Affairs during former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration has been arrested.
Afeef was arrested from the opposition coalition’s protest in Male’ City last Saturday night.
He was arrested while giving an interview to RaajjeTV, in front of the Arabiyya housing complex on Majeedhee Magu.
Ex-President Nasheed’s brother, the attorney Ahmed Nazim was also arrested on Saturday night. He was arrested by the police near Criminal Court.
Maldives Police Service reports it arrested 15 people from Saturday night’s protest; 14 men and one woman.
The authority confirmed it still has five of the 141 people arrested from Friday night’s protest in custody.
